Industry veteran Mark Squire joins TMG The Mortgage Group

The Mortgage Group (TMG) has appointed long-time mortgage executive Mark Squire to its executive leadership team, effective May 1, 2026, adding another high-profile lender-turned-network leader to Canada’s broker ranks.

Squire has spent more than three decades in senior roles across banks, insurers and networks, including CIBC, National Bank of Canada, Manulife Bank and most recently Verico Financial Group, where he served as president and chief operating officer before stepping down in 2025.

He also held senior posts at Paradigm Quest and headed mortgage broker services at Manulife and National Bank, experiences that gave him a reputation for reshaping broker programs and pushing efficiency-based compensation models.

Broker network doubles down on leadership depth

In announcing the move, TMG described Squire as bringing more than 35 years of experience across lending institutions and the broker channel. In the appointment notice shared by Squire on LinkedIn, TMG CEO Mark Kerzner highlighted his track record working with brokers during periods of rapid change.

“Mark is a highly respected leader in our industry with a deep understanding of the broker channel and a strong track record of execution,” said Mark Kerzner, CEO of TMG.

“His perspective and leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve and position TMG for long-term success and continue to build on our momentum.”

For his part, Squire framed the move as a chance to stay close to the broker community after leaving Verico.

“I’m excited to be joining TMG at such an important time in its evolution,” said Mark Squire.

“The company has a strong foundation, a talented team, and a clear opportunity ahead. I look forward to working with the leadership team to support the continued growth and success of the organization.”
