GTA homebuilders give backing to Conservatives

Five prominent Greater Toronto Area homebuilders — ARISTA, DECO, Fieldgate, Opus, and Paradise — have publicly endorsed the Conservative Party’s housing plan, calling it the most effective blueprint to deliver affordable homes.

"As homebuilders, we see the impact of burdensome regulations, rising costs, and housing shortages are having on Canadian families who are locked out of the housing market," Michael De Gasperis, president and CEO of ARISTA Homes, said in a Press release. "We believe Pierre Poilievre is the only national leader proposing real, practical solutions that align with what the housing industry needs."

Their endorsement highlights the Conservative platform’s focus on eliminating GST on new homes under $1.3 million, reimbursing cities for development fee reductions, scrapping the underused housing tax, and removing taxes on home renovations.

Steven Weisz, co-owner of Paradise Developments, added, “A Conservative government will help kickstart the homebuilding industry that is experiencing its worst downturn in 35 years.”

The homebuilders plan to join a rally with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre today at the Seatonville Sales Centre in Pickering to discuss housing policy proposals with industry professionals, tradespeople, and local residents.
