CAMLA gears up for alternative mortgage broker expo in Brampton

The Canadian Alternative Mortgage Lenders Association (CAMLA) will host its Ontario Expo on May 8 at the Pearson Convention Centre in Brampton, Ontario.

The event is expected to draw in more than 400 mortgage brokers, lenders, and industry professionals for a day of market insights, regulatory updates, and networking.

The agenda will begin with registration and an opening session at 8:00 a.m., followed by a presentation from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) at 9:15 a.m. BMO Capital Markets will provide an economic and market trends outlook, while Equifax will cover credit and risk insights later in the morning.

A panel on the future of brokering and lending in 2025 will feature several industry leaders.

A trade show and luncheon will run from noon to 2:30 p.m., allowing brokers and lenders to meet face-to-face. The afternoon will feature a keynote session led by Matt Basile on innovation, disruption, and marketing new ideas, before the event wraps up with closing remarks at 3:30 p.m.

Attendees have the option of staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto/Brampton, located next to the venue.

CAMLA, which represents Canada’s alternative mortgage lending community, advocates on policy, standards, and compliance issues. With tighter mortgage qualification rules and higher borrowing costs, more Canadians are turning to mortgage brokers, with broker use rising from 43% in 2023 to 48% in 2024, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).
