Clinch Finance is an Australian non-bank lender based in Bondi Junction and part of AltX Financial Group. The firm distributes its products through mortgage brokers and a network of property professionals such as accountants, real estate agents and buyer’s agents.
Clinch launched in 2022 as a specialist non-bank lender in the Australian consumer bridging finance market. At the time, Australia’s major banks largely limited bridging loans to their own customers, and approval processes were slow. The firm positioned itself as a broker-focused alternative, aiming to provide faster approvals for homeowners looking to buy before selling.
Wayne Miller founded the company and co-owned it alongside AltX Venture Holdings from the outset. Non-bank lender Assetline Capital provided initial warehouse funding and distribution through its existing broker network.
The firm issued its first loan in late August 2022. The product was built around a fully digital application process and a proprietary credit-decisioning engine.
In August 2025, AltX Financial Group formally integrated Clinch Finance as a dedicated brand under its Lending Solutions business division. AltX named James Green as CEO.
In February 2026, the company launched the Easy Equity Loan. The product targets homeowners with significant property equity who don’t qualify under traditional income-based lending criteria. Eligibility centres on equity strength and a documented exit strategy rather than regular income.
Clinch Finance offers two lending products through its broker and referral network across Australia. The company’s bridging loan is a short-term product for homeowners buying their next property before selling their current one. It is available in two structures:
The Easy Equity Loan lets homeowners access the equity in their current property without selling it first. Unlike the bridging loan, no new purchase is required and the product carries a higher minimum credit score. Both products allow early repayment at any time without penalty.
Clinch Finance lists five core values:
The company describes its lending approach as asset-based, with credit decisions centred on a property’s value and the borrower’s exit plan rather than income, age or standard lending templates.
Clinch Finance says this positions it to serve borrowers that conventional lenders typically decline. This includes retirees, the self-employed and those in transitional financial positions.
James Green serves as CEO of Clinch Finance and has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and property. He previously served as sales director at consumer credit reporting firm Equifax and, before that, led distribution at neo-bank Volt Bank.
His earlier career includes co-founding Sydney brokerage Shore Financial and Australian Mortgage, the latter acquired by Volt Bank in 2021. Green leads the following team at Clinch Finance:
The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates more than 800,000 Australians plan to retire, highlighting a sustained downsizing trend. Clinch Finance’s product set is aimed at this group, whose equity position often exceeds their formal income. Green has said the firm expects demand from this borrower cohort to grow as property wealth continues to concentrate among older Australians.
Clinch operates within AltX Financial Group’s Lending Solutions division alongside Assetline Capital, Generate Homes and 365 Funding. The group’s institutional backing gives the company access to capital for loan funding and product development. Accredited brokers and authorised referrers across Australia submit applications through the firm’s online platform.
