SQM upgrades Millbrook Fund to 'superior' status

The Millbrook Group has announced that its flagship Millbrook Credit Fund has received a 4-star “Superior” rating from SQM Research, upgraded from its previous 3.75-star rating.
The independent investment research firm highlighted the fund’s consistently strong performance, robust governance, and effective capital protection measures as key drivers of the upgrade.
This recognition arrives amid growing scrutiny of the private credit sector, which faces increasing investor concerns around overdue loans, asset valuations, and fee transparency. SQM Research noted that Millbrook’s higher-than-peer Sharpe ratio—a key indicator of risk-adjusted return—was a standout factor in its latest assessment.
“We are proud to receive this 4-star rating from SQM Research,” said David Lyall, managing director of Millbrook Group. “It affirms our commitment to capital preservation, conservative risk management, and delivering strong, risk-adjusted returns for our investors.”
The Millbrook Credit Fund focuses on real estate-backed private credit, aiming to deliver steady income while minimising downside risk. Its upgrade places it among the higher-rated offerings in Australia’s growing private credit market, reinforcing Millbrook’s position in the space.
Lyall added that the upgrade reflects not only past performance but also the fund’s ability to navigate a complex and evolving market landscape. “We believe in transparency, discipline, and the importance of aligning with investor interests,” he said.
The fund’s performance and risk metrics were benchmarked against its peer group, and SQM Research concluded that it demonstrates “superior” attributes across multiple categories.
As institutional and retail interest in private credit continues to rise, the Millbrook Credit Fund’s improved rating offers additional assurance to investors seeking resilient income strategies.
The rating also serves as a testament to the fund’s operational strength, including its due diligence process, investment team, and internal controls.
