Women comprise nearly half of Loan Market’s Western Australia brokers
Loan Market’s Western Australia network is approaching gender parity, with women making up 49.2% of its brokers — well above the national industry average, where recent MFAA and FBAA surveys report female representation at just 27-30%.
The development is attributed by those within Loan Market to a supportive culture and initiatives such as the Leading Ladies network.
“When I looked around, it was inspiring to see so many female brokers and business owners in Loan Market,” said Kaine Adamson, state director for Western Australia at Loan Market, who joined the organisation in September.
“Representation matters, not just in principle but because it guarantees a diversity of voices, experiences, and perspectives that ultimately benefit our clients.
"I acknowledge the advantages I’ve had in this industry and that the journey hasn’t always been the same for women. That’s why it’s crucial we listen, learn, and build upon what’s working to ensure our industry is inclusive for all.
“Ultimately, broking is a people and relationship business. When our network mirrors the diversity of our communities, we are in a much stronger position to meet the needs of a wider range of clients.”
Jasmine Bunter (pictured right), a broker at Loan Market Geraldton and member of the network for seven years, highlighted the value of the Leading Ladies community, saying it has been fostering an environment where women in the industry can exchange ideas and achieve collective growth.
“But even beyond that, there’s a genuine willingness for female brokers to pick up the phone or reply to an email when someone reaches out,” she said.
“When you’re regionally-based like I am in Geraldton, that level of connection is so important. We even have our female brokers on the East Coast who are more than happy to share their insights and what strategies are proving successful for them.”
Nationally, women comprise 31.2% of Loan Market’s brokers, also exceeding the broader industry average.
