FBAA announces new chair

Current chair of broker association steps down after eight years in role

FBAA announces new chair

The Finance and Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) has announced Brett Spencer as its new chair, effective immediately.

Spencer, who is the chief executive and founder of DocuScan Australian, replaces Tony Carter, who has been in the role since 2017.

The announcement was made this Friday at the FBAA National Industry Conference on the Gold Coast.

FBAA managing director Peter White said: "I’d like to congratulate Brett on his election as chair. Brett has been a valued member of the board for the past two years and the transition will be seamless. I look forward to working closely with Brett as we continue to serve members and advance our industry.

"I’d also like to extend my sincere thanks to Tony Carter who was chair during a time of great growth and expansion at the FBAA. Tony remains on the board for another year and will still make an enormous and valuable contribution to our direction during this time.

As a long-term managing director of the FBAA I have a great respect for all of our board who are driven by a passion for our industry. The FBAA started as a grassroots association run for brokers and by brokers. Over the years since, all who have served in our board have stayed true to this vision."

"It’s a great honour to take on the role as chair of the FBAA and I thank my fellow board members for their confidence," Spencer said. "My thanks goes to Tony Carter for his long-term service and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him over the next year.

"The FBAA board is not about one person but about the collective, and our focus is firmly on our members. This will not change.

"Our managing director Peter White, the executive team, staff, state presidents and all others who contribute to our success are an amazing group of people and it’s a privilege to work beside them as chair."
