Peter White resigns from FBAA after 23 years

Peter White (pictured) has resigned as managing director of the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) after 23 years with the broking association.

FBAA Board chair Brett Spencer called the decision “a difficult one for all”, but said he believes the “time is right for him and the FBAA”.

“Peter has been a general for this association for over 20 years, and like all retiring leaders, he will be missed by many,” said Spencer.

White said: “I’ve met countless lifelong friends, and I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the tremendous growth and impact of the FBAA.

“Today our association is a leading voice for our sector, respected by those at the highest levels of government and industry, and sought by national media for commentary due to our credibility and expertise.”

He cited the FBAA’s efforts to combat the “unfair recommendations” of the Hayne royal commission as one of the association’s greatest achievements.

White thanked “the many who have served on our national board, our state teams, staff, and the thousands of members across the nation who support the association”.

He said the timing of his decision reflected his view that he had accomplished the goals he set out to achieve in the role, adding that “change is not only good but necessary for any organisation, and brings new ideas and fresh vision.”

FBAA board chair Brett Spencer commended White’s achievements during him lengthy tenure and stated that the FBAA will continue to build on his legacy so it can grow into a larger and stronger association, representing its more than 14,000 members and the broader industry into the future.

The FBAA is collaborating with White to facilitate a smooth transition while a successor is sought out.
