Mortgage veteran named new head of home lending product

Suncorp Bank has named Daniel Nicotra (pictured above) as its new head of home lending product, with the role based in Sydney.
Nicotra takes over from Karen Walsh, who has moved into the role of executive general manager of everyday banking.
Nicotra brings extensive mortgage and broker channel experience, having spent the past four years at digital lender Athena Home Loans. There, he played a key role in mortgage origination and broker platform development.
He also spent six years at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) in various leadership roles, including executive manager for home buying (strategic projects and portfolio), executive manager of the credit reform program, and executive manager for distribution capability. He also held senior lending management positions at Bankwest, including area manager for home lending.
The appointment comes as Suncorp Bank continues to reshape its leadership team following its integration into ANZ Group. In October, the bank appointed Paul Brick as head of broker partnerships.
Commenting on his appointment, Nicotra expressed enthusiasm about the new role and his admiration for Suncorp Bank’s broker and direct lending successes.
“I am extremely excited by the opportunity to join such a high-performing home lending business and strong product team,” he said. “I can’t wait to work with the talented and innovative Suncorp Bank product team to continue servicing and supporting our customers while growing the business.”
Troy Fedder, executive general manager for home lending at Suncorp Bank, described Nicotra as “a highly experienced leader and product executive” and a valuable addition to the home lending leadership team.
“I’m excited for Dan to be joining Suncorp Bank, and I know he will be an asset to the Home Lending leadership team,” Fedder said. “Dan has proven himself to be an experienced product executive throughout his career, and I look forward to seeing what he achieves as the head of home lending product at Suncorp Bank.”
