‘We wanted to start build something that was fundamentally different to most traditional brokerages’
Ryan Sweeney (pictured, left), co-founder and director of FRONT Financial, recently sat down with MPA Pod to discuss the whirlwind first 18 months of the Sydney-based mortgage brokerage.
Sweeney discussed how he and co-founder William Banham (pictured, right) moved from being teenage mates and rival brokers to business partners, united by shared ambition and frustration with traditional “one-man band” brokerage models.
It certainly wasn’t a walk in the park for them. Sweeney recounted the financial shock of true business costs – wages, infrastructure, compliance, and systems – and how lean the early days were, including literally living in the office for weeks on end.
His story resonates with all entrepreneurs and ambitious brokers looking towards the next stage of their career.
