All majors banks saw an uplift in annual Roy Morgan Australia’s Most Trusted Brands report

What is Australia’s most trusted bank in 2025?

“The big banks are back,” proclaimed Roy Morgan chief executive Michele Levine on Monday.

She was discussing the results of the annual Roy Morgan Australia’s Most Trusted Brands report, which revealed that the Big Four banks – ANZ, Commonwealth Bank (CBA), Westpac and NAB – dramatically leapt up the trust ladder.

“This is the biggest shift we’ve seen since the low point following the release of the Financial Services Royal Commission report in early 2019,” said Levine.

Bendigo Bank got knocked off its perch as Australia’s most trusted bank in 2025, to be replaced by none other than CBA, Australia’s largest financial institution.

CBA climbed five spots to secure its place as Australia’s seventh most trusted brand, while Bendigo Bank took the 14th spot.

NAB’s surge, which Levine dubbed “a trust laggard to a genuine contender”, took Australia’s largest business bank up 29 spots to 19th place.

Westpac climbed 53 spots, but it failed to claim a top-20 place, coming in at 21th.

It was ANZ that saw the biggest uplift of all Big Four banks, having climbed 104 spots. However, ANZ remains one of Australia’s least trusted banks at 51st.

Given the furor around widespread job cuts and record fines, ANZ’s trust ranking will be closely watched in 2026.

Australia’s sixth largest home lender ING dipped two spots to 22nd place.

The four most trusted brands in Australia in 2025, according to Roy Morgan, were Apple in fourth place, Kmart in third place, ALDI in second place and Bunnings Warehouse in first place.

Roy Morgan bases its analysis on surveys with more than 21,000 Australians each year via the ongoing Risk Monitor.
