Jon Gawley, managing director of New South Wales-based brokerage Kanebridge Finance, has an enviable wealth of industry experience.

He forged his career in the banking sector, working for Suncorp in the early 2000s before moving into the big leagues as a commercial banker at NAB.

Gawley’s journey to becoming a broker began in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, having first established his own business before joining forces with friend and Kanebridge Finance founder Marwan Rahme.

With decades of experience behind him, Gawley knows what it takes to be a successful commercial broker.

His ability to work with funders to secure the best deals for his clients, while not forgetting the small day-to-day things that they appreciate, has secured him a spot on MPA’s prestigious 2025 Top Commercial Brokers list.

MPA TV caught up with Gawley following his inclusion in the list to discuss what it takes to be a top commercial broker.

“It’s quite simple,” Gawley said. “A good commercial broker is someone which actually understands their client, someone which actually works well with their team and, more importantly, works well with the funders.”
