Green Finance Group founder celebrates career and family in night of happy coincidences

Two worlds collide for AMAs winner Daniel Green

Daniel Green (pictured, top), winner of the La Trobe Financial Broker of the Year – Commercial at the 2025 Australian Mortgage Awards, couldn’t be at The Fullerton Hotel Sydney to pick up his award on Friday, 17 October.

There was a good reason for this. Green was at a final school speech night instead, a proud father celebrating his son’s achievements.

As luck would have it, Green’s phone started lighting up with congratulatory messages from colleagues at the AMAs, just as his son was celebrating his own successes.

“It was one of those surreal moments where two worlds collide, proud dad and proud business owner at the same time,” Green told MPA. “I couldn’t have scripted it better if I tried. The win means a lot, not just personally, but as recognition of the hard work, persistence and teamwork that have gone into building Green Finance Group into what it is today.”

It has been a huge year for Green Finance Group, with the combined team achieving record results of more than $1.3 billion in settlements.

“But the real success has been consistency and collaboration,” said Green. “We’ve built a reputation for being the group that gets the complex commercial deals done with niche specialists covering most industries and we’ve worked hard to maintain that specialist edge.

“We also share knowledge freely across the team so every broker grows stronger. Experience shared is experience multiplied and that benefits the business and most importantly, our clients.”

Big year or not, there is plenty more fuel in the tank, with Green Finance Group continuing to expand across Australia with new offices in Sydney, regional NSW, Melbourne and Mackay,

More brokers are joining the team, with Green focused on “attracting the right people, the best people, while continuing to provide diversification and business growth avenues for our people and our referral partners”.

Taking the boring out of broking

Green started in banking in the mid-1990s, building his way up to commercial lending with a focus in the hospitality, childcare and tourism.

He founded Green Finance Group in 2010 with a singular goal “to take the boring out of broking and build a business that combines deep industry expertise with genuine personal service”.

He has grown the business from a one-man band to a national outfit, scooping up many awards along the way.

It hasn’t been without its challenges.

“Scaling a high-performance business without losing the culture and personal connection that define us has been more challenging than I expected,” said Green. “We’ve achieved it by being selective and surrounding ourselves with the right people, not just more people.”

As for career highlights, “nothing beats seeing team members thrive”, Green said. “When someone joins Green Finance group and achieves a great client review, a personal best in monthly settlements or their own industry award win, that’s what it’s all about. Our culture of shared wins is what I’m most proud of.”

Outside of broking, family and friends are everything for Green.

“I have a love for travel and do as much as I can with those closest to me. I’ve learned that the best ideas don’t come from sitting at a desk. A bit of sunshine, good company and a quiet beer usually do the trick.”
