Lang joins Avanti Finance as CFO

Strategic hire marks next phase in lender's growth journey

Lang joins Avanti Finance as CFO

Avanti Finance has announced the appointment of Brad Lang as its new group chief financial officer. The move comes as the specialist lender positions itself for a new phase of expansion and follows a rebranding initiative recently unveiled.

According to a news release, Lang brings more than 20 years of strategic and financial leadership experience to his new role. He previously spent 12 years at Partners Life, where he held senior leadership positions across finance and strategy, most recently serving as chief strategy officer. His career began at BDO New Zealand before he moved to the United Kingdom, where he spent nearly a decade in the financial services sector.

Throughout his career, Lang has led capital raising initiatives and managed complex corporate acquisitions, holding a track record in driving financial transformation and strategic growth.

Fred Ohlsson, group CEO of Avanti Finance, expressed enthusiasm about the appointment. “We’re thrilled to welcome Brad to the Avanti team,” Ohlsson said. “His broad experience and strategic thinking will be invaluable as we continue to drive innovation and growth within our company.”

The announcement of Lang’s appointment follows Avanti Finance’s unveiling of a new brand identity in May. The rebrand, according to Ohlsson, is a “pivotal moment” for the company, signifying its expanding footprint and future-focused ambitions. Established over three decades ago, Avanti has grown into a multi-channel, multi-product lender with $2.8 billion in assets under management, serving more than 300,000 customers. The company employs over 270 staff and works with a trans-Tasman network of advisers, brokers, and dealers.

The rebranding is part of a broader strategy that includes investment in technology, product innovation, and an enhanced service experience for both customers and introducers. Avanti has also shed the “non-bank” label to align with its identity as a specialist lender.
