Financial Advice NZ and PAA Legacy Trust back next‑generation adviser training
Mortgage and financial advisers in New Zealand are set to gain new opportunities for upskilling as Financial Advice New Zealand (FANZ) teams up with the PAA Legacy Trust to expand its Campus professional development hub.
Campus is positioned as a modern, adviser‑led learning platform designed to support capability across the advice profession, including mortgage specialists advising first-home buyers, property investors, and business owners.
FANZ says the hub integrates executive education, global standards, and practical skills to help advisers navigate increasingly complex client needs and a fast‑changing regulatory and technology landscape.
Campus to be “beating heart of adviser capability”
FANZ chief executive Nick Hakes (pictured) said Campus marks a step‑change in how advisers build and maintain their skills.
“Campus is designed to be the beating heart of adviser capability in New Zealand,” Hakes said. “It brings together world class executive learning, global professional standards, and the practical, real-life skills advisers need to deliver high quality advice and solve increasingly complex problems for clients in a rapidly changing world.”
As a proof of concept, FANZ has already rolled out several programmes, including an “AI in Advice” certificate completed by 69 advisers, and a Psychology in Practice series aligned with new global behavioural finance CPD requirements.
The expanded Campus will offer additional designations, executive short courses, and research‑driven capability initiatives from 2026.
Legacy Trust funding early‑career advisers
The long‑term strategic partnership with the PAA Legacy Trust provides funding certainty for Campus and extends the Trust’s longstanding focus on adviser development.
Independent chair Darrin Franks said the trust is “delighted to strengthen our long-term strategic partnership through the Campus initiative, including five scholarships to the annual National Adviser Conference in 2026.”
“Encouraging early career advisers to participate in the industry’s premier event and supporting their foundational training is core to our mission,” Franks said, emphasising that the trust’s legacy is about supporting financial advisers and improving access to advice for New Zealanders.
Hakes said the partnership “is about honouring decades of commitment to adviser education while investing in the advice profession’s future.”
The partnership comes ahead of the National Adviser Conference 2026 in Auckland, which will include a limited‑capacity mortgage advice masterclass as part of a wider three‑day programme for advisers across mortgages, investments, and insurance.
