Kiavi builds out C-suite, Rate brings back elite loan officer

Two major players in the mortgage industry are strengthening their leadership and origination efforts.

Kiavi has expanded its C-suite with two new executive appointments to advance its construction lending business, while Rate has welcomed back one of its top-producing mortgage originators.

Kiavi targets construction lending growth

Kiavi, a lender focused on residential real estate investors, has named Tom Hallock (pictured left) as head of construction lending and Robert Jayne (pictured center) as head of originations, construction lending. The company said the hires are part of its plan to scale its construction financing product and support developers building new housing.

Hallock previously held construction financing roles at DPL Capital, Genesis Capital, and PeerStreet. At Kiavi, he will oversee product development, team management, and strategic expansion in the construction lending space.

Jayne, who spent 20 years in construction finance, most recently worked at Archwest Capital, where he helped establish a construction lending platform, and at Genesis Capital, where he led the Construction Lending vertical. He also runs a Los Angeles-based firm that develops residential real estate, specializing in historical renovation projects.

Both hires are tasked with growing Kiavi’s construction lending vertical, which the company says is central to its goal of helping developers build more housing units.

“We are delighted to welcome proven industry veterans Tom and Robert to the Kiavi team to take our ground-up construction product to the next level,” said Kiavi CEO Arvind Mohan. “We look forward to putting Kiavi’s technology platform, AI/ML models, and data advantage to work in serving even more real estate investors and developers.”

Rate rehires top LO

Chad Barris (pictured right), a veteran mortgage originator, has returned to Rate after seven years at CrossCountry Mortgage. Barris brings more than 20 years of experience to Rate.

“We are thrilled to announce that Chad has rejoined Rate,” said Jeff Nelson, East chief production officer at Rate. “Chad brings unparalleled expertise. His success is rooted in exceptional customer service and helping clients achieve their dreams of homeownership.”
