Hire comes a month after successful $300 million fund IPO

Alternative asset manager and broker-focused non-bank lender La Trobe Financial has appointed James Waterworth as head of distribution for its asset management division.
Waterworth brings over two decades of experience in investment management and client distribution strategy, having joined La Trobe from BlackRock Australia.
Commenting on the appointment, Waterworth said: "I am excited to be joining a high-performing team that is well-positioned to thrive in a rapidly evolving investment landscape. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued growth and success."
Chris Paton, chief investment officer at La Trobe Financial, added: “James brings a rare combination of strategic insight and hands-on experience. His appointment supports our ambition to further scale our distribution platform while continuing to deepen relationships with clients and partners both in Australia and globally."
Waterworth joins La Trobe Financial just a month after the group raised more that $300 million through the initial public offering of the La Trobe Private Credit Fund.
The successful IPO was billed as a sign of renewed investor confidence in the capital markets.
“In an environment of economic uncertainty, the success of our initial public offering is a testament to the ongoing trust placed in La Trobe Financial by our almost 115,000 investors,” said chief executive Chris Andrews at the time.
