Industry veteran takes on key role to enhance engagement with mortgage professionals

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has appointed Matthew Gallant (pictured) as its director of member relations, where he will oversee engagement with residential member companies in the Northeast region.
Gallant’s responsibilities include strengthening industry relationships and identifying ways MBA can better support its members.
“I am excited to welcome Matt to our member relations team and am confident that he will leverage his passion, strong connections, and extensive knowledge of our industry to enhance our member engagement initiatives,” said Laura Hopkins, MBA’s vice president of membership.
Gallant brings over a decade of mortgage banking experience to the role. Prior to joining MBA, he served as director of stakeholder engagement at New Hampshire Housing. He previously worked at Bank of New Hampshire as vice president, retail lending market manager. In 2023, he was recognized as a "Seacoast 10 to Watch" award winner by Catapult New Hampshire and Seacoast Online.
An active MBA member, Gallant has chaired the New England Mortgage Bankers Conference since 2022. He holds both the Certified Mortgage Professional (CMP) designation from the New Hampshire Mortgage Bankers and Brokers Association and the Certified Community Lender (CCL) designation from NAMMBA.
Gallant’s appointment comes on the heels of the US Senate's confirmation of Scott Turner as Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Turner will oversee federal housing policies focused on improving affordability and accessibility.
Industry groups, including MBA, have expressed support for Turner’s leadership.
“We will continue to advocate for policies and solutions that improve housing supply and affordability and stand ready to work with leadership and staff at HUD, the Federal Housing Administration, and Ginnie Mae,” MBA president and CEO Bob Broeksmit said in a Press release.
