Trump’s Fed pick appears in Epstein files

Kevin Warsh’s nomination collides with a fresh release of Jeffrey Epstein records

Trump’s Fed pick appears in Epstein files

President Trump's nominee for Federal Reserve chair appeared in files linked to Jeffrey Epstein released last week.

In one email from a publicist to Epstein, Kevin Warsh’s name appeared among 43 people, including celebrities such as Martha Stewart, reportedly headed to a Christmas event in St. Barts. Another message referenced a guest list for a dinner hosted by British aristocrat William Astor, where Warsh’s name again appeared alongside other financiers and public figures.

The files show no evidence that Warsh met Epstein or attended either event. Being named in the documents does not imply any wrongdoing.

“Please look this over. I think Roman's boat is bigger than Ron Perelman's. Here is a list of everyone I know that's coming down so far. Please advise where and when to screen,” one email said, in a passage that included Warsh among the invitees.

Warsh’s background and policy views

Warsh, a former Federal Reserve governor first appointed in 2006, has been viewed as a conventional Republican choice with a history of caution on inflation and a preference for tighter policy earlier in his career.

More recently, he signaled openness to lower interest rates, a stance that aligned more closely with Trump’s repeated calls for easier money and put his views under closer scrutiny among fixed‑income investors and mortgage lenders.

Industry participants said the appearance of Warsh’s name in the Epstein materials complicate, but does not solely define, the nomination debate, which still centers on how aggressively the next Fed chair might cut rates and manage the balance sheet.
