Appointments reflect operational shifts across retail, correspondent, and client relationship strategy

United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) and U.S. Bank have both announced updates to their mortgage leadership teams, with appointments that affect client engagement strategy, national retail lending, and correspondent channels.
At UWM, Allen Beydoun (pictured) has been named the company’s first chief client officer (CCO). Beydoun, who has been with UWM for 18 years, will assume a newly created role focused on integrating client feedback into the company’s operations and aligning strategic decisions with the needs of brokers and borrowers. Beydoun has worked with clients nationwide and is known within the company for his experience in building client relationships and for his understanding of broker-led lending models.
According to UWM CEO Mat Ishbia, Beydoun’s responsibilities will include ensuring client needs are reflected in company-wide decisions and enhancing client-facing processes across all business units.
“Allen started at UWM when we were nowhere to be found on any top lender list, and for the last 18 years has had an unwavering commitment to our clients’ success,” Ishbia said in a Press release. “He has helped build our client relationships from the ground floor, and there’s no one more qualified to step into this role. Our clients know and trust Allen, and we’re excited to see how his leadership will continue to strengthen those relationships.”
Beydoun added that his focus will be on continuing to center the client perspective in how UWM develops and delivers its mortgage services.
U.S. Bank’s new mortgage leaders
Meanwhile, U.S. Bank has made two appointments following the retirement of Tom Wind, who had served as head of consumer lending for the past nine years. The bank has named Fred Bolstad as head of mortgage, and John Hummel as head of retail home lending.
Bolstad, previously head of retail home lending, now leads mortgage and home equity originations across retail, correspondent, and housing finance agency (HFA) channels. He also oversees warehouse lending, which provides warehouse credit facilities and related services to independent mortgage banks. Bolstad has been with U.S. Bank since 2016 and was appointed to his current position in February 2025. He is based in St. Louis.
Hummel, who previously led the East market for retail home lending, now oversees retail mortgage sales and operations nationally. His responsibilities include managing over 1,200 mortgage loan officers. Hummel’s background includes leadership roles in both retail and correspondent/HFA originations. He has been with U.S. Bank since 2017 and is also based in St. Louis.
