Cirencester Friendly and Reward Funding have announced key leadership appointments aimed at advancing their respective growth strategies. Cirencester Friendly welcomed Andy Lucas (pictured, left) as chair of the Board, while Reward Funding named Martyn Evans (pictured, right) as business development director for the North East.
Cirencester Friendly welcomes new chair
Cirencester Friendly has confirmed the appointment of Lucas as chair of the Board, following the retirement of Janice Banks after serving the maximum nine-year term. Banks had chaired the board for the past two years.
Lucas, who joined the mutual in 2021 and served as senior independent director, brings a strong background in marketing, sales, and business transformation. His previous roles include senior leadership positions at Prudential, ACE European Group, and Cambridge Building Society. He also serves as vice-chair of Buckinghamshire Building Society and is a trustee of two charities.
“I am delighted to make the move from senior independent director to chair of Cirencester Friendly’s Board of Management,” Lucas said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Society so far and with exciting plans for growth on the table, I look forward to playing my part in shaping the future of the organisation.”
CEO Andy Morris welcomed the appointment, stating: “We have an excellent working relationship, and he wholeheartedly understands and supports our ambitious growth strategy. With his background in marketing and transformation, he will be perfectly placed to offer candid and sound advice to the Board and the wider executive team.”
Founded in 1890, Cirencester Friendly now supports more than 44,000 members across the UK with income protection solutions and a range of discretionary benefits rooted in mutual values.
Reward funding expands regional reach
Meanwhile, alternative lender Reward Funding has named Evans as business development director for the North East, aiming to bolster support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Evans brings over 20 years of sales experience, with a decade focused on lending and business development. He will focus on developing broker relationships and expanding Reward’s footprint in the region.
“Joining Reward felt like the natural next step in my career,” Evans said. “What really stood out to me was Reward’s determination to back businesses that others overlook.”
“His arrival will help us deepen our presence in the North East and beyond – regions full of opportunity,” said Gemma Wright, managing director – sales and distribution.
