Lewis steps up as deputy CEO at MT Finance; Trowse to lead debt advisory division at Mortimer Street Capital

Two specialist finance firms have announced senior leadership appointments aimed at bolstering their market positions and expansion efforts.
MT Finance Group has promoted Gareth Lewis (pictured left) to deputy chief executive officer. Formerly managing director, Lewis will now oversee the entire group, reinforcing the lender’s strategy of recognising internal talent and strengthening leadership amid market challenges.
Since joining MT Finance in 2018, Lewis has played a key role in launching regulated bridging, buy-to-let and commercial lending divisions. He also helped guide the company through the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the 2022 mini-Budget, and contributed to securing over £2.5 billion in funding from various partners.
“I am honoured to have been promoted to deputy chief executive officer, said Lewis, commenting on his new role. “I am extremely proud of everything we have achieved over the past eight years and am grateful to be able to work with such a dedicated team. I am looking forward to leading MT Finance on our growth journey in the months and years ahead.”
Meanwhile, Mortimer Street Capital (MSC), the specialist lending arm of Visionary Finance, has appointed Justin Trowse (pictured right) as managing director – debt advisory.
This follows a period of growth for MSC, which focuses on complex transactions in commercial, development, and bridging finance.
Trowse brings more than 15 years of experience in real estate and financial services. He previously held senior roles at LendInvest, where he scaled its bridging division, and at Allica Bank, where he was involved in the integration of Tuscan Capital and launch of Allica’s bridging finance offering.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Mortimer Street Capital at such an exciting time in its growth,” Trowse said. “The market is evolving rapidly, and there’s a clear need for a more thoughtful, strategic approach to real estate funding — one that understands the asset, the capital and client’s funding needs.”
“There’s a real opportunity to bring something different to the table, particularly as we expand into more complex debt and structured transactions. I’m looking forward to working with our clients and partners to deliver intelligent, tailored funding solutions that genuinely add value.”
These appointments reflect the sector’s focus on experienced leadership as firms navigate evolving market conditions and growing demand for sophisticated finance solutions..
