Internal promotions support lenders’ push for stronger broker relationships

Together and HRBS bolster intermediary teams

Property lenders Together and Hinckley & Rugby Building Society (HRBS) have announced a series of internal promotions, highlighting continued investment in intermediary relationships and broker support.

Together has promoted Tanya Elmaz (pictured top) to the newly created role of managing director of intermediary sales. Reporting to chief commercial officer Ryan Etchells, Elmaz will lead broker relations across clubs and networks, roving underwriters, and new introducers. Her appointment comes after three years as director of intermediary sales, during which she oversaw a 32% rise in annual sales to £1.6 billion.

“I am delighted to be stepping into the shoes of managing director for Together’s intermediary team,” Elmaz said. “Building a team that can support our broker community with the high service levels that we expect is a role that I truly relish.

“In the last three years, the intermediary team has gone from strength to strength, and I couldn’t be prouder of their achievements to date. I look forward to taking our Intermediary channel to the next level and driving our ambitious growth plans ahead.”

Elmaz will also play a key role in managing broker partnerships following the announcement of Marc Goldberg’s planned retirement as chief executive of sales and distribution in December 2026. Since joining Together almost a decade ago, Elmaz has held roles in business development and intermediary sales. She currently leads a team of 47 and recently launched a new Club and Network channel. She also serves as Gender Lead on Together’s DEI Steering Committee, where she has supported the increase of female representation to 71% at senior leadership team level.

At Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, four team members have been promoted within the lender’s sales and distribution division.

Lizzie Atkins (pictured immediately above, second from left) has moved from internal sales team leader to sales team manager, taking full responsibility for the telephony and broker assist teams. She reports to HRBS head of mortgage sales and distribution, Laura Sneddon.

Sophie Hancock (pictured above, far right), previously a telephone business development manager (TBDM), became field BDM for the South in May, focusing on face-to-face broker support for complex cases.

Meanwhile, Lauren Bayliss (pictured above, second from right) has been named senior TBDM and will help lead the telephony team and mentor junior staff. Robin Thira (pictured above, far left) has also been promoted, stepping into a TBDM role from business development assistant.

The promotions come as the mutual expands its support for brokers, following the launch of a new remortgage product with PEXA and recent rate cuts across its Core, Fixed, Income Flex, Credit Flex and Flex Plus ranges.

“Our sales team is central to the service we provide to brokers,” Sneddon said. “These promotions are a reflection of the hard work and talent we’re fortunate to have within the team, and each individual has shown real desire to support our intermediary partners, and it’s brilliant to see them taking the next step in their careers.

“As we continue to grow and adapt to the market, making sure we have the right people in the right roles is key. These changes will help us continue delivering the personal, knowledgeable support that brokers value.”
