New leaders step in as the company prepares for its next growth phase

Property lender Together has announced significant changes to its senior leadership team and Board, marking a strategic move to bolster its executive ranks for future growth.
New executive appointments
Cheryl Brough is set to join Together as chief people officer in August, bringing extensive experience in leading people functions within financial services and insurtech. Brough previously served as chief people and culture officer at Prima Assicurazioni, an Italian tech-led insurance group. Her background also includes senior human resources roles at Provident Financial Group and Cabot Credit Management.
Dave Sutherland will assume the role of chief operating officer in July. According to a news release, he brings over 20 years of experience in operations, technology, and process transformation across finance and retail.
Sutherland was most recently group director of business efficiency and interim CEO (UK) at Bank of Ireland. His prior career also includes leadership positions at Arrow Global, TD Bank, GE Capital, and Santander UK.
Candice Lott will take on the position of chief marketing officer. Lott brings to the role expertise in digital transformation and marketing, having founded and owned the consultancy, We Are The Digital Type. In this role, she assisted prominent brands such as easyJet, parkrun, and the Post Office with commercial, marketing, and digital transformation projects. Her earlier career involved senior marketing roles at Greene King, Nando’s, Thomas Cook, and Compare the Market.
Succession planning
In a planned succession, Marc Goldberg, CEO of sales and distribution, will retire from Together in December 2026 after 38 years with the group. He will step down from the Group Board by the end of June. Ryan Etchells, the current chief commercial officer, will assume additional responsibilities for sales and distribution from July 1st, working alongside Goldberg for an 18-month transition period.
These appointments follow the appointment of Richard Rowntree (pictured) as group chief executive officer six months prior. The company, which now manages a loan book of £7.8 billion, is gearing up for its next phase of expansion, building on its 50-year legacy in specialist secured lending.
Rowntree expressed his delight at the new appointments, stating, “I am delighted to welcome Cheryl, Dave, and Candice to Together. They bring extensive experience and will further strengthen and diversify our senior leadership team as we build on our past success and take the Group to the next level.” He also extended his gratitude to Goldberg for his “outstanding contribution” to Together.
