AMI announces new board appointments

The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has named five members to its board following its latest round of annual elections, including two who will return for another term.

Board positions at AMI are filled through a rolling election process, with terms typically lasting three years. Existing board members may stand for re-election.

In the latest results, Clare Beardmore, director of mortgage club and distribution at Legal & General, was re-elected to represent the Club constituency. Tim Wheeldon, chief executive of Fluent Money, retained his seat in the AFB constituency.

Joining the board for the first time are Toni Smith, network distribution director at Sesame Network, and Helen Martin, chief risk officer at LSL Financial Services. They will represent the Network constituency. Jason Berry, group sales director at Crystal FS, was elected to the Regional constituency.

“This process ensures that our membership continues to feel confident in its representation,” said AMI chief executive Stephanie Charman (pictured), who succeeded long-serving CEO Robert Sinclair in February. “I would like to thank all those who stood for election, reinforcing the importance of a transparent and democratic process.

“The AMI board also extended its gratitude to outgoing members for their dedicated service, Ray Boulger of John Charcol and Steve Harris from Sesame Bankhall Group who are stepping down after 23 and 3 years, respectively. With a demanding regulatory landscape ahead, AMI remains strongly positioned to promote and protect the mortgage advice community.”

Founded in 2003 and operating independently since 2012, AMI advocates for mortgage brokers across the UK and promotes high-quality advice as essential to a well-functioning housing market.
