A fourth pledge joins the existing framework as the bank seeks to reinforce confidence
Santander has renewed its broker pledges for 2026, adding a fourth commitment that guarantees intermediary partners access to underwriters whenever required.
The bank announced on 9 January that it would continue its three original pledges – no dual pricing, at least 24 hours’ notice of product withdrawals, and continued improvements to product transfers – for a further 12 months.
The original broker pledges were launched in February 2025 to demonstrate Santander’s commitment to the broker market and the importance the lender places on brokers within the mortgage industry.
Since launch, the bank has completed more than 30 product relaunches, all with at least 24 hours’ notice and none including dual-priced products. The lender has also improved product transfers, enabling brokers to view product transfer rates on sourcing systems, accept rates on behalf of clients, switch clients to a lower rate up to four months early with no early repayment charge, allow overpayments within the product transfer window with no early repayment charge, and view all clients’ mortgage details alongside product end dates on the Santander Introducer Internet.
“Last year we pledged to do more to better support our intermediary partners, and feedback has shown that brokers have felt and seen the difference in how we’ve operated over the past 12 months,” said David Morris, head of homes at Santander UK.
Morris added that the changes had made a tangible difference, noting that more than 10,000 customers had benefited from switching early to a lower rate under the bank’s Switch Now enhancement to the product transfer process.
“Today we are restating our commitment to supporting brokers and their clients for the next 12 months with our renewed, and refreshed, broker pledges,” Morris said.
The renewed pledges build on the commitments introduced last year, which aimed to address common challenges faced by brokers and provide greater transparency in the lender’s processes.
